Ross MacLeod has had over 10 years of experience as a putting coach for every level of golfer from beginners to tour pros. Currently, Ross lives in Helensburgh, Scotland, and offers both online and in person coaching.
One of the important points that Ross emphasizes with his students is expectations management. It is easy to hit a really good drive, a good approach to 15 feet, and feel like the hard work has been done and that you deserve to make the putt. In reality, it is difficult to make putts, and if you know the percentages you can keep from getting down on yourself.
A lot of people come to Ross for a putter fitting, but he encourages them to take a putting lesson instead. Not because he wants to make more money, but because a putter fitting can sometimes only be a Band-Aid on a terrible putting stroke. Instead, if the person improves their stroke, then they can get fit for a putter that will perform optimally.
